ABSTRACT

Bull contributes half of the genetic makeup of every calf born in a herd, making them extremely important for long-term improvement in milk yield, body growth, reproduction, and disease resistance. High-performance bulls are not born of their own, they are created through scientific management beginning from birth. A well-managed bull, therefore, becomes the foundation of a stronger and more productive and profitable herd. Scientific management practices including proper and early nutrition, comfortable housing, mineral supplementation, daily exercise, regular health care, and reproductive management determine that bull reaches puberty at an optimum age and produces high-quality semen. This article focuses on practices that can help to raise high-performance bull and strengthening future herd productivity.
