Milk has been an integral part of the Indian diet for centuries, providing daily nutrition to people across all age groups. With India now the world's largest milk producer, ensuring its safety has become a matter of growing importance. One area of concern is pesticide residues, which can find their way into milk through feed, water, or from the environment. Most of the studies show that pesticides residues in Indian milk are generally within safe limits, with only a few cases where residues exceed limits, which highlights the need for continued vigilance. With strong regulatory monitoring by FSSAI, better farm practices, and new rapid tests, the dairy sector is moving towards safer and cleaner milk for consumers.
