ABSTRACT

Cattle handling and restraint practices have been very traditional in India. Many innovative techniques and practices have been evolved in recent years through research in applied ethology and animal welfare in leading dairy farming countries. A wider adaptation of these innovations especially under commercial farming systems and at organized farms in the country shall immensely improve animal comfort and avoid unnecessary stress and injuries to the animals. This will improve their animal performance and welfare.
