By reaching per-capita consumption of 471 g/day/person (Annual Report 2023-24, AHDD, GoI) in liquid milk, efforts are being taken by the cooperative and corporate sectors to concentrate on manufacture and sale of value-added milk products. The increasing trend in milk production in India provides ample opportunity for efficiently manufacturing traditional value-added milk products with long shelf life. This will support in meeting the increasing demand for Indian dairy products in the domestic and foreign markets. With the advancement in new processes, technological improvements and automation coupled with modern marketing and management practices would further promote the growth of the dairy industry in an effective manner.
