ABSTRACT

Reproductive efficiency is vital for livestock production, influencing productivity, profitability, and sustainability. In recent times new tool encompassing machine learning viz., Artificial Intelligence (AI) is significantly and increasingly being used for enhancing reproductive efficiency by improving current management and reproductive technologies across various animal species. This advancement is part of a broader shift in livestock farming, driven by global challenges such as food insecurity, climate change, and labour shortages. Key AI technologies including machine learning, deep learning, precision learning, robotics, and computer vision are being applied in areas like automated oestrus detection, fertility monitoring, embryonic sex determination and health interventions, supporting more sustainable and efficient farming practices. Herald of this new tool in improving animal health and reproduction is bound to augment the outcome for the benefit of all concerned.
