ABSTRACT

Livestock is a key source of supplementary income and livelihood especially for small land holdings and landless rural poor households. Green fodder is natural feed stuff; therefore, the scarcity of fodder has a widespread impact on farmers. Dairy animals obtain nutrients, viz., energy, protein, fibre, minerals, vitamins and water from the forages for the maintenance of their body and optimum performance. Feeding green fodders to the animals helps to keep them healthy, reduce micronutrient deficiencies and increase milk production.
