ABSTRACT

Feeding farm animals on concentrated feeds requires a lot of investment and is not economical at all. Green fodder provides an economic nutrient source with higher quantity of total digestive nutrients which is highly relished by the animals and that can replace certain quantity of concentrate feed. Forage crops can be an important tool for producers, provided the right crop is selected, right management practice is taken to ensure that the crop is fully utilized in its most productive and nutritious phases of growth. Properly fed animals either with green fodder, silage or both are less prone to diseases and infections and also their performance increases significantly.
