Yak is one of the less explored bovine species found in a few states of our country. Its capacity to endure under severe weather makes it a special kind of animal. The herdsmen and their families rely on almost everything produced from yaks for financial support, either directly or indirectly. For farmers, it is a source of pride. Understanding the physical and genetic capabilities of yaks as well as current yak raising techniques is crucial for further research and increased financial gain from yak rearing.
