Goats are rich repository of animal genetic resources and play a vital role in rural economy especially enhancing the livelihood security of landless and small goat keepers through better milk, meat and hair production. To meet the higher demand of goat meat and other products, it is highly needed to rear goats in intensive and semi intensive systems using Open Nucleus Breeding Scheme, Artificial Insemination and other technologies for commercial production to enhance overall productivity and profitability of goat production. It is necessary to increase awareness amongst goat keepers to adopt commercial breeding to enhance genetic improvement in various breeds of goat.
