ABSTRACT

Climate change and weather extremes pose numerous threats to agriculture and agrifood systems worldwide. As agriculture contributes 15% to India's GDP, and climate change presumably causes about 1.5% loss in GDP. Negative impact of temperature rise on total milk production for India is estimated for >15 MT by 2050. Provision of seamless climate services (i.e. information & advisories) for farm and livestock operations are needed to be disseminated in advance to manage climate risks. Customized, location specific actionable advisories for dairy farming is need of the hour for vulnerable dairy farming and millions of dairy farmers.
