ABSTRACT

To meet future milk demand and for sustainable dairy farming the key is better nutrition in order to increase per unit milk production from milking animals. However, biggest challenge for us is to meet nutritional requirement of animals precisely and economically under a scenario of feed and fodder shortage. Urea Molasses Mineral Block (UMMB) is a nutritional feed for dairy animals to provide them with a constant source of fermentable nitrogen, energy and minerals to promote rumen microbes activity throughout the day. The UMMB technology has got the potential to improve productivity performances and nutritional status of these animals and has shown better acceptability among the farmers with good returns on investment especially during the lean period.
