ABSTRACT

Awareness of farmers, particularly farm women, regarding signs of heat in buffaloes and maintenance of reproductive records, with availability of proven bulls or good quality semen, shall ensure timely conception for shorter calving intervals and hence, higher lifetime milk production and calf crop. These aspects need to be taken up with all earnest so that the dwindling population of elite Murrah buffaloes in its home-tract can be checked and farmers reap good economic returns by rearing buffaloes on scientific lines.
