ABSTRACT

Non-nutritive behaviors of animals are considered abnormal or stereotypies when the behaviors are excessive and have ill effects to the individual or pen mates. In dairy world, majority of the abnormal behaviors are associated with the welfare of animals in its environment. These behaviors may arise in animal due to separation from their mothers to an isolated environment as occurs during weaning. Inability to perform natural behaviors is a primary concern of animal production scientist that needs to be addressed to improve the welfare state of animals in particular.
