Dairy products are often contaminated with various chemical entities during their journey from farm to consumers. In the Indian context, in the order of their decreasing prevalence in milk; these contaminants are adulterants, antibiotic residues, aflatoxin M1, pesticide residues and heavy metals. The monitoring of these contaminants in dairy products is difficult as available analytical methods are technology intensive and dairy industry is reluctant to use such methods. Paper strip-basedmethods are becoming popular and attracting the end users as they are easy to use and can be used to monitor quality of milk in real time.
