ABSTRACT

Although the availability of technologies is not a major problem in India and other developing countries, its accessibility by the intended clientele often varies with the situation, type of enterprise and capacity of ultimate users. Adoption of scientific recommendations is not uniform across different categories of farmers. A miniscule percentage of farmers who are innovative and highly self-motivated take risks by experimenting with new ideas and follow scrupulously to attain higher levels of achievement. The extension system should promote such innovative farmers as role models to replicate their success models in the country and farm enterprises as technology-driven dairying can provide remarkable benefits rather than animal population driven dairying.
