ABSTRACT

Timely assessment of energy reserves in dairy animals encourages better management and planning for dairy herd to optimize the profit and well being of dairy animals. There are various methods to assess the energy status of dairy animals with their respective accuracy and limitations. Body condition scoring (BCS) is quite satisfactorily accepted and applicable method in field as well as in organized farm conditions. Moreover, it is highly economical and convenient to predict the productive, reproductive as well as growth status of dairy cow through this method.
